Jo-Ann Lizio
Jo-Ann Lizio, an accomplished artist with works exhibited in galleries in New York, Massachusetts and Florida, as well as in private collections internationally, is also an art therapist and an art educator.
Fascinated by the forms and colors the world takes on when seen from on high, she incorporates those into her abstract paintings. Flight has been the organizing principle for much of her work. Her Flight Centennial collection incorporated metals from salvaged aircraft and celebrated the history of women in aviation. The industrial and historical themes gave way to what Lizio has called a "flight of fancy" that’s centered around freedom and metamorphosis.
Ms. Lizio is classically trained, having received her BS in Art Education from the State University College at Buffalo, New York, and her MA in Therapeutic Techniques of Art Education from the College of New Rochelle, New York. She was Chair of the School of Arts and Sciences Arts Department, Assistant Professor of Art and the Supervisor of Art Student Teachers at the College of New Rochelle, New York. She served as an art consultant at a school for learning disabled and as a Registered Art Therapist in private practice. Jo-Ann Lizio is a former Professor of Art in New York, and has over thirty years of teaching and exhibition experience in Massachusetts, New York, Washington, DC, and Florida. She was a featured artist in the Naples Museum of Art 7th Annual Artist's Studio Tour.
Born in Peekskill, New York, Jo-Ann resides in Naples, Florida.
